It’s that time of the year again, hello autumn! I am so ready for the big jumpers and cold nights where you drink tea and enjoy some netflix time underneath a soft blanket on the sofa. So to celebrate autumn, and my love for sweater weather, i’m going to do The Sweater Weather Tag
1. Favorite candle scent?
Smelling scented candles for a long time will give me a headache.. So I don’t buy a lot of scented candles, but if I have to choose I will go for warm and sweet scents. Because I feel like it really suits this time of the year. Give me a candle with just a hint of cinnamon and it’s fine by me!
2. Coffee, tea or hot chocolate?
I really really dislike coffee, I love the smell but ones I taste it my whole body cringes. unless it’s a white caffe mocha from starbucks. I am getting in the habit of drinking more tea, I usually drink just plain water but that does get boring sometimes. And when you are very cold, a warm drinks feels like a big hug. I have to say that I also love hot chocolate, but just for every once in a while.
3. What’s the best autumn memory you have?
When I was little we would always decorate gingerbread cookies at school. I loved doing that, the whole classroom was cozy and there were tons of tasty decorations for our gingerbread cookies. I actually enjoyed it so much that for my birthday (in January) we decorated gingerbread houses with my friends. I think what I love most about autumn/winter is the cozyness that comes with it.
4. Which makeup trend do you prefer: dark lips or winged eyeliner?
Is lip balm a makeup trend..? Winged eyeliner takes me waaaay to long and I still screw it up. And dark lips.. I love them on others but because I already have pretty big lips I feel like I don’t want to draw to much attention to them haha. But maybe this year I will try it out, and let you guys tell me what you think!
5. Best fragrance for autumn?
I’m such a loser when it comes down to beauty, I have one fragrance and that is Prada Infusion D’iris eau de parfum, and to be honest I forget to put in on quite often.. But the smell is subtle, fresh, feminine and not to sweet, just like scented candles with heavy perfumes I sometimes tend to get headaches.
6. Favorite thanksgiving food?
Where I live, in The Netherlands, we don’t celebrate thanksgiving so I will change this question to: Favorite food in autumn? That is a really easy question! I love my mothers home made tomato soup 🙂 I can literally eat that everyday with a grilled cheese sandwich on the side. But pizza makes a good second. For sweets I love the dutch kruidnoten. These are like very very small cookies with a mix of spices a little bit simular to pumpkin spice. You also have them covered in chocolate dark, milk and white. But my alltime favourite are the truffel kruidnoten, covered in white chocolate ganach and cocao powder.
7. What is autumn weather like where you live?
I feel extremely fortunate to live in Holland, because we get to have all the changing seasons. Though it rains a lot in Holland which I don’t feel extremely fortunate about. Whenever the sun shines and you go into the woods, or where I live just walk out of the door, You will see all the wonderful colored leaves on the trees and on the ground. I love to go outdoors on these days and enjoy them as much as I can, because you never know when it will start raining again…
8. Most worn sweater?
Any oversized jumper will do, because I love to snuggle up in my jumpers whenever I´m cold. Which is pretty often… I´d love to get more jumpers in autumnal colors, basically the colours of all the leaves on Pinterest pictures. Also I recently bought a cute grey jumper from H&M, I will show you guys in an upcomming blogpost.
9. Must-have nail polish this autumn?
I don’t really wear a lot of nail polish, it looks gorgeous but I don’t like the feeling of taking it off with a cotton pad drowned in nail polish remover.. And walking around with chipped nail polish is not a good look. But when I do wear nail polish like right now I like to wear deep reds or earthy tones. I have a beautiful blood red colour from Catrice called ¨caught on the red carpet¨. This nail polish is super inexpensive but it’s great quality! Also another beautiful colour, is from CND VINYLUX called married to the mauve. I think you can guess what kind of colour that one is..
10. Football games or jumping in leaf piles?
I recently went to my very first soccer game, soccer in The Netherlands is what football is in the U.S. it was pretty impresive to see it in real life. Some of the guys were only 18! But I still prefer jumping in a pile of leaves. or just going outdoors in general, my mom is extremely creative so when it’s time to go and decorate the house and garden again we will go outdoors and get a look for a lot of things into the woods to use to decorate.
11. Skinny jeans or leggings?
The best jeans are no jeans.Though I won’t go to school or go shopping in my leggings the moment I walk into the door I take of my skinny jeans and put on my leggings. I still have to find a acceptable way to wear my leggings all day everyday. Once I do it is leggings for the win my friends.
12. Combat boots or Uggs?
I love a mix of combat boots and Uggs, like the blackstone boots I have been obsessing about for so long and finally bought last winter! But if I can’t wear a mix of the two I will totally go for Uggs! They keep my feet extremely warm which is very convenient since my feet are always cold during the colder months. I don’t care how many people I hate them, I have always like the underdogs.
13. Is pumpkin spice worth the hype?
I have to confess something.. I never ever had anything pumpkin spice before. No not even the famous pumpkin spice latte. But I will promise that I’m going to try out as much pumpkin spice anything as possible. Pinkie promise.
14. Favorite autumn TV show?
At the moment I’m watching Once Upon A Time, while waiting for pretty little liars to start again! I’ve binge watched OUAT quite some time ago, and had to wait for a very long time before the new season was added on netflix. So now that I have to wait for PLL to come back, I am even happier that OUAT made it’s return. I also love Gossip girl, though I’ve seen it a million times, a great show to binge watch if you ask me. And my newest addition to the autumn binge watch list is New Girl. And if you have any other suggestions please let me know!
15. What songs really gets you into autumn spirit?
All of Adele’s albums. I’ve been listening non stop to those at the moment, and I feel like her voice is perfect for autumn. She has such a warm soothing voice it is insane. Another song I think screams autumn is Northern wind by City and Colour.
A great way to find new autumnal songs is to put on an 8tracks playlist with keyword autumn. That makes me feel all kinds of good.
I was already in a very autumnal mood, but writing this blogpost makes me want to carve pumpkins, buy more jumpers, light all the candles in the house and jump in leaf piles.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this tag, and I tag all of you to do it aswell!
Lots of love, Anne
